A proud New Jersey native Haleigh DiBetta is a graduate of the University of Maryland where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism studying at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Haleigh currently works as the weekday morning Reporter/Multimedia Journalist at WJAC/WWCP in Johnstown, Pa. When needed Haleigh also fills in to produce and anchor newscasts. While in Johnstown, Haleigh has covered everything from breaking news, the anniversary of the Septmber 11th Attacks at the Flight 93 National Memorial to community stories. Local high school offers course training students to become volunteer firefighters
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Volunteer fire departments across the region and even the state of Pennsylvania have started to shrink over the years as fewer people come forward to volunteer.

But a solution to the lack of recruits might have been found within local schools.

North Star High School added a new class students can take this year. It's a one-credit course that trains them to become volunteer firefighters.
